Story
Step into the halls of a school where studying seems like an afterthought. This season revolves around Chhaya (Kanikka Kapur), hopelessly pining after her best friend Dhruv (Omkar Kulkarni), who remains blissfully oblivious. Meanwhile, Dhruv’s friends, Susu (Naman Jain) and Kabir (Chinmay Chandraunshuh), grapple with their own adolescent woes. The remaining boys are focused on setting up a “bandi” (stall), adding a touch of entrepreneurial spirit to the mix.
Five episodes fly by, but precious little progress is made in terms of storytelling. The plot feels repetitive and stagnant. While coming-of-age narratives often rely on nostalgia, “Immature” fails to deliver on the entertainment front. The jokes fall flat, and the characters remain trapped in one-dimensional tropes.
Dhruv, the “cool dude,” breaks hearts with a charming smile. Kabir, overweight and insecure, resorts to offensive humor (and the overuse of the word “choosa”). Susu, the nerdy sidekick, remains oblivious to romantic cues. Even the female characters fall victim to lazy stereotypes, portrayed as needy, insensitive, or mere objects of desire. There’s a fleeting attempt to acknowledge this issue within the writing, but it feels as superficial as the rest of the narrative.
The only saving grace of Season 3 is its brevity. Five short episodes mean minimal wasted time. However, if you’re looking for a compelling campus drama with well-developed characters and a plot that goes somewhere, you’ll be sorely disappointed. “Immature” offers a monotonous experience devoid of genuine laughs or emotional depth.
Verdict
“Immature” Season 3 might bring back some high school memories, but it fails to create new ones worth cherishing. The stale jokes, one-dimensional characters, and predictable plot make for an uninspired viewing experience. Unless you’re a die-hard fan desperate for a dose of nostalgia (and even then, proceed with caution), this is a series you can easily skip.
